The sonar profile is at right. From left to right, in the profile, there is a sea floor cross-section, the sea floor, reflections from seep bubble plumes, and the sea surface, respectively.

Note the positive correlation between seep bubble density in the profiles and swamping along the track (white) which occludes reflections.
